Clown

After Vivienne and Zazie the next member that joined the circus is Argider. Out of all the circus artists he is the strangest. He seemingly has no mouth, his eyes are bright red and he possesses strange abilities that none of the other members have seen before. He doesn’t talk due to lacking a mouth but he can communicate via telepathy, letting his voice appear in people’s head. However, he prefers to keep to himself and let his best friend Jacques (the next member) talk for him.

He joined the circus after Aristide found him living on the streets of a town they performed in. At first he refused to join but Aristide was persistent and this will to help people along with how he cares for and protects his circus family impressed Argider and he finally accepted his invite. Another reason for him to join was his blossoming love for Zazie, who at first was suspicious and scared of him but, after a certain incident, started to return his feelings and later became his fiancé. Non of the other members knows what happened between them that day but ever since then the two of them became almost inseparable.

When he first joined the circus it wasn’t clear as what and if he would perform at all, since he was very shy and avoided crowds as much as they avoided him due to his scary aura. For a while Aristide wanted him to become some sort of magician, but to everyone’s surprise and Aristides delight, it later turned out that Argider has a certain talent for slapstick humor, whether intentional or not. So he became the circus Clown using his special abilities to incorporate magic into his act. For his performances Zazie draws a mouth on him so people aren’t scared of him.

Due to his very tall and extremely skinny stature, his bony mouth-less face with gleaming red eyes and his very introverted, quiet personality, people outside the circus are usually scared of him. Aristide is literally the only one who wasn’t scared of him ever. Despite this, once he knows you and trusts you, Argider is a very gentle and sweet soul, who would give his life to protect the ones he cares about. He and Aristide share the role of the circus protector and usually Aristides intelligence and his threading appearance are enough to keep trouble away. However, should anyone ever dare to threaten his family, especially Zazie and her sister, they better hope that there is a god who has mercy for them.

He is very loyal to the circus and Aristide (whose enthusiasm he finds a bit much at times but whom he respects for sharing his strong protective nature and giving all those people a home and whom he considers his first human friend) but he has a secret he only ever told Zazie about. His secret is that he is possessed by a very powerful demon, which is the source of his powers. It doesn’t show in his human form despite his mouth being "missing". In truth he has a mouth but it’s the one part that is permanently the demons so he usually seals it closed with skin. He wasn’t always possessed, it happened when he was a child that was abandoned by his parents due to being weak and sick and them having too many children to feed. While surviving on the streets he somehow befriended a demon who later possessed him to safe both their life’s. Due to their bond (the demon is the one who Argider calls his first friend) the demon leaves Argider in full control and keeps itself hidden deep down in his body until Argider decides to transform. They are basically two personalities in one body, but due to the demon mostly sleeping, 80% of the time it is really just Argider. This secret makes him one of the most powerful beings, not only in the circus but in the whole country. His presence alone keeps the circus safe from all sorts of supernatural threats they aren’t even aware are there. Even the witch who cursed Aristide fears him and she wants to get rid of him in order to reach Aristide.
