The Devil
This character is part of project i created for my Bachelors Thesis. My goal was to take villains from Austrian fairy-tales and adapt them in a similar way DIsney adapts fairy-tales and realize the characters in a style that would fit the studio.
This character presents the devil and is the villain of the fairy-tale "The abducted princess" In the story the character appears as a human in the beginning and spends the rest of the story as a dragon. I decided to take some more liberties with his dragon form and only kept the dragon wings, as I wanted to give the devil a look that is more distinctive of Austrian culture. To achieve that, I took inspiration from the Austrian Perchten, devil like creatures people dress up as around Christmas time that are still popular today.
In regards to the style I went for older, more darker Disney villains, like the Horned King and Chernabog, as I liked their monsteresque appearance.
