Chat — cat-hybrid

I took a break from posting circus characters for a week, but am back now with the second animal member of the circus: Chat.

Do understand Chats origins, one needs to know that in the world of the circus there is magic and three types of magic users. The most powerful users are demons, like the one who possessed Argider. After demons there are witches and wizards who are humans that are naturally gifted to use magic. Aristide and Jacques would be an example of what witches can do with curses. Finally the third kind of magic users are Alchemists. They are just normal humans and think that what they are doing is science but it actually is magic with the help of magical artifacts. Everyone is technically capable of using Alchemy but it is a dangerous art. There are rules what one is allowed to do with magic and alchemy and the most important rule is do never mess with life. If one breaks that rule they will be faced with very heavy punishment. Despite that it still happens and that is exactly how chat came to be. They are the result of an insane Alchemists dream to create humans with animal characteristics. They are the only one of the scientists experiment to survive and countless others of his creatures suffered a cruel end. Chat was kept in a secret laboratory for the first months of their life, but was discovered by Aristide by chance. The Alchemist had kidnapped Jacques after discovering that he could talk, in hopes of learning how to make his creatures speak by studying him. So Aristide and Argider came to his rescue. While they broke into the secret lab Aristide found Chat and felt sorry for the creature so he decided to take them with them.

Despite them both being some sort of human animal hybrid, Chat and Jacques are very different. While Jacques sees himself as more of a human, Chat is basically a cat with an anthropomorphic body. They can’t speak human language and their behavior is generally that of a cat, though they seem to be a bit more intelligent than a regular cat. They are like a cat that occasionally shows behavior of a small child.

Because it is such a heavy crime to create creatures like chat, they don’t appear in the show and are generally being hidden away from outsiders. Aristide knows that if chat was discovered they would be killed and he and his family would be punished for their creation, despite not being the ones who created them. Despite having to be hidden, chats life drastically improved after being freed and taken in by Aristide. They are enjoying their new life as more or less a house cat and are adored and spoiled by all the members. Chat is especially attached to Aristide and also Vivienne, who took on the role of their main caregiver as she can relate to chats situation of having to be hidden away in order to stay save.
